Foreign caregiver FAQ
How long does it take to hire a foreign caregiver?
6–12 weeks on average. In Israel, caregivers are hired only through a licensed caregiving agency, so it pays to start early — we prepare the paperwork in advance to shorten the wait.
How is the caregiving visa different from a regular work visa?
The caregiving visa (B/1, caregiving track) is issued only through a licensed caregiving agency, under a sector-specific permit, with pay and employment terms set by the caregiving rules — different from construction or agriculture permits.
Does the long-term care benefit cover the cost of a foreign caregiver?
Often only in part. Check eligibility with National Insurance (Bituach Leumi) and the welfare ministry in advance — the gap between the benefit and the real cost (agency fees, salary, insurance) is paid by the employer.
Do we have to provide housing for the caregiver?
Yes. A proper separate room in the patient's home is a legal requirement (or another agreed housing arrangement). The standard covers privacy, sanitary conditions and basic furniture.
What happens if the caregiver is not the right fit?
A replacement is arranged through the caregiving agency under the terms of the agreement. Document the problem in writing and act quickly — we support both sides through the process.
Can we choose a specific caregiver?
Yes. We present several suitable candidates with CVs, intro videos and a description of their experience. The family picks the preferred candidate before the visa process starts.
